Little League Welcome Letter
Hello to all Little Leaguers, Parents & Caregivers
We hope you're all looking forward to another fun-filled season of
Little League at Lynn-Avon. The Junior Committe would also like to
extend a warm welcome to all our new little soccer stars and their
parents and caregivers. We hope you enjoy your time with our club.
Here's the low-down on how Little League functions: LL is a gentle,
non-threatening way to introduce your child to the sport of soccer.
Dobby and helpers will show your child basic soccer skills and give
them some time in the hour to have a fun game of soccer. It is a
relaxed atmosphere and as a parent you're quite welcome to help your
child with the skill they're trying to master. It is important that
your child/children have their own SIZE 3 soccer ball, these can be
purchased from the tuckshop at the beginning of the season or from any
sports store.
Soccer clothes and boots are optional, but shinpads are advisable to
protect little legs from injury. As the season progresses and the
grounds become boggy proper soccer boots may also become necessary to
avoid slipping – these can be purchased second hand from the Junior
Club rooms, stock permitting. Small sizes of shorts and soccer socks
can also be purchased if desired. Little League T-shirts will be
available to ALL NEW Little Leaguers on receipt of fees, these can be
picked up at the Tuck-shop at the beginning of the season.
Little League takes place every Saturday from 9-10am at Ken Maunder
Park. When the weather is wet LL is still on. If the weather has been
horrible for days it may pay to listen for cancellations on NEWSTALKZB
from 7.15am onwards for park closures. You can also phone the tuck-shop
from 8.15am onwards on 827 2405. There is no need to contact anyone
should you not be able to make it, Dobby will just look forward to
seeing you the following week. The Little League Season starts April 2008 (Date to be confirmed).
For our records we would appreciate it if parents/caregivers could
come to the Junior Club Rooms some time during the first LL session to
check that we have the correct details for your child/children.
Some of you may have been told that there is a Club Day to attend.
In the past we have found that this day can be somewhat overwhelming
for LL'ers, what with all those flying soccer balls and big kids
jumping about. The Committee has decided that Club Day is for 8th grade
upwards. Fees can still be paid and gear purchased on Club day.
Should you have any questions feel free to call Graham 817-2667 or have a chat to us at the tuck shop.
